Within the context of the Corona Virus measures, new decisions have been taken by the Council of Ministers of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus which will be imposed between 15 March – 22 March 2021. The rules deemed necessary to be followed are as follows:
• A partial curfew will be applied from Monday until Friday between 21:00 and 05:00 and from Friday 21:00 until Monday 05:00 (Except to meet basic needs).
From Monday – Saturday:
• Markets will be open between 08:00 -20:00.
• Retail and merchandising services (except supermarkets and workplaces supplying all sectors) will be open between 10:00-20:00.
• Restaurants will be allowed to serve on Saturdays until 20.00.
• All businesses and activities, except for pharmacies, petrol stations, bakeries,livestock and related enterprises will be closed on Sunday.
Establishments that will remain closed are as follows:
• Theatres and cinemas, performance centres, concert halls, engagement-wedding halls, birthdays, religious prayer services, casinos, bars, taverns, coffeehouses, cafeterias, hookah cafes and halls, internet cafes, all kinds of game halls, indoor playgrounds, swimming pools, massage parlours, spas, indoor sports halls, open buffet restaurants, bet offices,night clubs, clubs, Turkish baths and saunas.
Establishments that will remain open are as follows:
• All businesses and activities that are not stated implicitly may be open under the specified conditions. There will be no trying on of clothing at stores.
• Barbershops, hairdressers, beauty salons and tattoo studios will continue to operate between 08:00-19:00.
• Restaurants, cafes and coffee shops are currently allowed to serve sit-in customers during the week in outdoor seating areas.
It has been decided to open the outdoor areas of the coffee houses and cafeterias as of 15.03.2021, provided that the social distance rules are followed, unless a contrary decision is made. However, there will be no games in the specified sectors (paper, okey, etc.), and hookah will definitely not be used.
• Special needs education centres will continue education.
• It has been decided to start individual and non-contact training of licensed performance athletes in all sports branches in open areas.
• Individual and non-contact training for sports activities is permitted.
• As the prevalence of infection is less in Lefke-Güzelyurt-İskele-Famagusta districts and in order to prevent the spread of infection to these districts, the passage from Nicosia and Kyrenia districts to the above-mentioned districts will continue to be controlled by the District Police Boards.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT;
• In Lefke and Güzelyurt Districts, transport within the district and between two districts will be allowed.
• In İskele and Gazinağusa, transport within the district and between two districts will be allowed.
• There will be nopublic transport services between Nicosia and Girne Districts. public transport services will only be allowed to operate within their own districts.
• Transportation by taxi from Kyrenia and Nicosia districts to other districts with passage control (Lefke, Güzelyurt, İskele, Famagusta) will be subject to permission. Transport from Kyrenia and Nicosia districts to these districts by bus, minibus is not allowed.
• Passengers will not be allowed to sit next to the driver of the buses, minibuses, and taxis.
• Public transport will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity. Seats behind drivers will be left empty.
• The windows of the public transport will be open, air conditioning will not be used and everyone in the vehicle will wear a mask.
• Vehicles will be disinfected.
• A commitment form will be signed by the business owners engaged in public transportation. Those who violate the rules stated in the form will be subject to criminal action.
• All members of the public are urged to adhere with the decisions. Those who violate the conditions will be subject to legal prosecution.
